Cordia Tab - Frequently Asked Questions

What operating systems could I run on the tablet?

Any Linux kernel based OS, such as: Cordia HD, MeeGo, Ubuntu and even Android.

What is the default Operating System?

The tablet will come with Cordia HD preloaded.

Who stands behind Cordia Tab?

Me. This is a purely community project, with no big company behind. You are free to jump in.

How much will Cordia Tab cost?

Should be around 300 USD.

Why 7 inch screen?

It's a compromise between usability and portability.
And frankly - there isn't that much choice on the market. 7” is the smallest tablet available.
After using it daily for few weeks I find the size perfect both on the couch and while commuting.

Is hardware specification already frozen? Why not have [something]?

As we are not funded with big money, we need to work with existing hardware that is already designed and manufactured.
I did my best to choose the best hardware available.

Is it custom made, or are you re-purposing an Android tablet?

It's manufactured with Android, but the hardware is very close to the reference board, so it runs all Freescale supported systems.

Are there hardware volume controls?

There is a rocker button on the side of the device, labeled “Menu” and “Back”.
Since Cordia HD does not need hardware menu nor back keys, it will be used as volume/zoom rocker.
